Popular Thailand Destinations

This sprawling hub of activity known as the City of Angels embodies the very essence of Asia. From the moment you touch down at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok sweeps you along in a swirling miasma of action. Within the sanctity of your Bangkok hotel room, you will no doubt spend a few quiet hours mulling over numerous brochures, magazines and guide books to plan your day. Highlights for many will be a tour of ornate Buddhist shrines and temples, or wats as they are called in Thailand; a ferry boat ride along the Chao Phraya river for an ever-changing perspective of the cityscape; and shopping sprees at ultra-modern mega shopping complexes and at day and night markets throughout the city. As the pulsing Bangkok nightlife winds down to meet the Bangkok dawn and its steady drone of congested streets, one thing is certain, Bangkok leaves an indelible impression upon every visitor.

Anywhere you visit in Bangkok, Wired Destinations has the recommended Bangkok hotels and hotel discounts to make your Thailand travel perfect. Check out Bangkok Hotels for a complete list of hotels, as well as links to hotels in Bangkok's many neighborhoods!

Suvarnabhumi International Airport

In September 2006, Suvarnabhumi replaced Don Muang as Bangkok's international airport. (Don Muang still serves domestic travel.) Suvarnabhumi Airport is approximately 40 minutes by car from the city center. The main access road is an elevated ten-lane highway which connects to the outer ring road network and to the Bangkok - Pattaya motorway. Under construction is a high speed rail link from the airport to the city center. The total journey is expected to take approximately 15 minutes.

The island province of Phuket nestles close to mainland on the edge of the Andaman Sea. Phuket flourishes as a Thailand holiday destination. Its 45 km west coast offers sweeps of turquoise bays lined with glistening bodies frolicking in the surf. This paradise island brims with activities: jungle safaris on elephant back, world class dive sites for day trips and live-aboards, sea kayak expeditions through stalagmite studded caves, luxurious spas offering herbal treatments and therapeutic massage, premium health care facilities for medical procedures at a fraction of Western costs, a throbbing neon Phuket nightlife, otherworldly transvestite cabaret shows, street vendors hawking handicrafts and trinkets, modern shopping malls and island resorts catering to the party animal or the spirit of the castaway.
