Hua Hin General Facts
Hua Hin is a popular beach resort town and a great weekend getaway destination for residents in Bangkok. In former times, royalty gathered here, and there is still a flair of grandeur to its wide Hua Hin beaches. The area generally attracts families and older visitors, but there are young couples as well. Excellent for quiet relaxation, strolling around the fishing docks, a leisurely round of golf, riding ponies on the beach, or just sitting in a beach chair. Standard time zone: GMT (+7 hours) or UTC. Thailand is 7 hours ahead of London, 12 hours ahead of New York and 15 hours ahead of Los Angeles. Daylight saving time will add 1 hour to the above.
Hua Hin Business Hours
Business hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Friday. Some business office may open on Saturdays at around 09:00 to 12:00. Government and administrative offices open from 08:30 to 14:30, Monday to Friday. Bank hours are from 09:30 to 15:30.
Hua Hin Climate
During the hot season from late March to early June, the weather is hot with high humidity and an average temperature of 29°C. Tides can be pretty high and the breeze help water sports like surfing and sailing.
The rainy season starts from July to October, with occasional showers and an average temperature of 28°C. Hua Hin does not experience heavy rains unlike the northern and southern parts of the country. The sea is calm and with high tides.
The cool season is from November to February, with an average temperature of 26°C. There is a lot of sunshine but not as strong as in the hot season. The tides in November are quite high with strong winds and big waves which are good for windsurfing or parasailing.
Hua Hin Dress Code
In general, Hua Hin dress code depends on the weather, which could be very hot during April and rain storms are common in the rainy season from mid July to early November. In most areas, casual clothes are acceptable. However, despite the climate, topless sunbathing or swimming is not OK for women. It is more common to swim in your casual clothes. Moreover, temples are held in high regards by the Thais, so there is a strict dress code; flip flops, shorts, sleeveless shirts etc. are prohibited.

Public telephone service can easily be found in Hua Hin downtown. Hua Hin hotels and major tourist areas provide international phone calls. Mobile phone service is also available. Consider purchasing a SIM card with pre-paid option so it would be more convenient than finding a public phone booth.
Travelers have easy access to the Internet and e-mail. Major Hua Hin hotels and resorts, business centers and service apartments often provide Internet services. Internet cafes can be found in town, with fax and phone service also available.

The electricity in Hua Hin is 220 volts. If you are from a 110-volt country, it is recommended to purchase 220-volt appliances.
Hua Hin Language
Thai is the main language in Thailand. Though dialects vary in different destinations, Thai is still commonly understandable. In major tourist hotspots, like Thailand beaches and in some Thailand hotels, many of the locals can also speak English, but it is better to write your destination down a piece of paper, or ask your concierge at the Hua Hin hotel to write down in Thai for you.
Hospitals in Hua Hin are the equivalent of those in many western cities. Intensive care units are fully equipped and staffed by well trained doctors to handle emergencies. Nursing care in general, is usually optimal, as there is a high staff-to-patient ratio. Pharmaceuticals in Hua Hin are at high standards, and pharmacies must have a registered pharmacist on the premises. There are many clinics that treat minor ailments and accidents around town.
