Although Havana beaches are off the beaten tourist track, they are well-known among locals for its powdery white-sanded beaches and sparkling clear blue sea, where the emphasis is on having a good time in a wonderful retreat. Just about 18 km east of the town, Havana beaches are the place to be for those who prefer a tranquil retreat. The most popular beach is ‘Playas del Este’ because of its gorgeous seashore, just 30 minutes’ drive form Havana town. Chairs or umbrellas for rent are available at almost every beach. Also, it is convenient for visitors to rent some sport equipment such as paddleboats, kayaks, and catamarans. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, and food stalls lined the streets in Havana beach area.

Being a perfect venue for all sea-fishing enthusiasts, Marina Hemmingway ranks as the most famous marina in Cuba, providing sport fishing with challenging fishing games, weather report service, boat repair, etc.
Cubans are avid sports followers, enjoying the excitement of many sports and games. A lot of international sports tournaments are held in Havana all year round. Most of all, Cubans have a passion for baseball. Baseball season is from November until May and there are two teams in Havana, the Industriales and the Metropolitanos which are part of the national baseball league. For their home games, both teams use the Estadio Latinamericano, full of spectators cheering to support for their favorites, the Havana team.
Also very popular are volleyball, martial arts and boxing. You can watch a volleyball match at ‘the Coliseo de Deportes’ and a fight at ‘the Sala Polivalente’.
